Birthday Girl

So, our little girl is one, and finally, here are the pictures you've all been waiting for! Just kidding, but it's pretty bad that her birthday was almost 2 months ago and we're just now able to post this!!! Oh well, so it goes!

So, the big day was on Friday, March 14th, and we'd only been back here for about 2 weeks. We weren't sure if we should invite everyone we knew and have a big bash like we did for Caleb, or if we should keep it small and simple. Well, you know us--we can't resist a big party, so we invited all our friends to our place that evening after dinner for cake and icecream.

It was kinda cramped and crazy since our apartment isn't that big, but it was alot of fun.

The kids played in Caleb's room while we adults mingled.
Then came the birthday speech, followed by the lighting of the candle and singing of the birthday song--twice! Once in English and once in the language here. Then cake and icecream were served, and Susanna enjoyed several pieces of fruit from the top of the her cake (poor girl couldn't have a whole piece cause she's still allergic to dairy!).
Caleb apparently enjoyed his piece of cake too!

Afterwards, David's friend gave a speech of blessing he'd written for Susanna and our family.
It was such a warm and special time, because everyone there was not only celebrating her birthday, but her life. We sang and laughed and talked about her, hearts overflowing with thankfulness that she is alive and well, happy and healthy, and that she is still ours to have and to hold and to treasure.
