Playing

While in North Carolina visiting David's family this month, Caleb had a couple of adventures. On the left, Caleb is having fun at the Greensboro Children's Museum. On the right, Caleb and Mommy are playing a game at Chuck E. Cheese.

Yesss!!!

Caleb sprinted into toddlerhood with a stunning triumph over the porcelain throne a couple of weeks ago! We were especially thrilled because this was his idea. He wanted to give it a try, and after a few uneventful sittings, it happened. I cheered him on without shame when he told me over the phone [two of my friends were standing close by]. We continue to encourage him in this, but will not begin official "training" for several months.

Here comes the Bride ...

David's sister Jenny married her sweetheart Harold Gordon on August 12th, 2006. We were excited to be able to attend the ceremony. It was simple but very sweet. It was neat to watch their first dance together. Their love for each other was evident as they gazed into each other's eyes and held each other tenderly. Harold also committed to caring for Jenny's daughter [my niece] Kara during the ceremony, a pretty redhead of seven.

Making new friends

Recently, we were able to speak to some Indonesian friends about our upcoming work. We spent a Saturday morning/afternoon with them near downtown Atlanta. It was only my second experience speaking through an interpreter. It was a great experience, though I became aware of some growth areas regarding my ability to communicate through an interpreter. Our friends, however, were gracious and receptive to what we shared.

North Carolina trip

We are currently in North Carolina visiting David's parents until the 15th of August. In addition to some quality family time, we will have a couple of meetings and David will be able to speak to some Middle School students this coming Wednesday night. Be thinking about us during this time. We trust all is well with each of you.

Another one bites the dust!

Recently, one of my good friends was married in Peachtree City, GA. BJ and I were roommates in college for two years and got to know each other well. BJ married his sweetheart Tiffany, and we all had a good time. The top picture is of me with my best friends BJ and Jordan [now each of us is married! Wow, time flies]. The middle pic is of me and my sweetheart, and the bottom pic is of me and several friends at BJ's bachelor party, given by the best man, Billy Ray [in the shades].
